Erika's mother (Beverly Brown) and I returned to the house for what we thought would be brief break. Beverly took a walk, and I took a nap. Somehow I heard the phone ring and it was Erika. "I think it's going to happen tonight," she said...to which I responded, "Say what!" Apparently, the doctor led the lab reports and concluded that now was the time to deliver. I'll leave it at that, except to say that when you are walking around with two -- not one - kids inside, you don't take chances. Needless to say, near panic ensued. I started grabbing key stuff for the overnight, including my video camera (and battery charger, just to be safe). When Erika's mom walked through the gate, she was just shocked...but only for a second. Mom's have a way of immediately jumping into action mode. So within minutes we were out of there, overnight bags, food, and a giant jug of clean water (yes, my wife takes no chance) in hand.
