Meet the Bloggers: Inaugural Interview

Today we officially kick off an Intelliseek sponsored series of podcast interviews entitled "Meet the Bloggers." We'll use these easily downloadable interviews as an opportunity to educate folks about the vast diversity of bloggers out there. Who are they? What makes them blog? How specifically are they using blog technologies, and what can we learn from this? In addition to popular bloggers, we're also going to focus on on lesser known bloggers who are doing really interesting stuff. Today, I interview Jay Stockwell, who during the day wears the Intelliseek VP of Sales hat. In the off hours, he's an aspiring comedian who is using the blog publishing format as a vehicle to promote and communicate his work. Recently, he discovered "podcasting" and we'll be covering this topic in this interview.

The Role of Passion

Blogging lends itself to passion, explains Scoble.  If you go to the folks offering comments on blogs, they tend to be among the most "passionate followers."  Journalists pay attention to blogs because they know that the most passionate people are the ones who are changing society.  They are folks who like to be close to the inventors.  Apple's ipod "didn't take place in blogs, but it evolved in the same way. Passionate people aggregated around it....the amplication of passion is what sells products," he explained.

Keynote Address - Robert Scople

Robert Scople is providing a bit of Blogs 101 for the audience.  At first, I found myself thinking "I know this" but the thing about the blogophere is that you get so deep into all the evolving details that sometimes the basics are quite refreshing. Anyway, he's talking about the power of linking and syndication.  Now, here's what's interesting about this guy. He actually plows through 1000 sites on a regular basis.  But the trick is that he only reads "new" items that are written on a regular basis.  He does this with blog aggregators.
