Last week I delivered a presentation to the research committee of the Association of National Advertisers in NY. Turns out, ace blogger Steve Rubel, a specialist in PR blogging, just so happened to a few floors up. So we finally met face to face, and being the indefatiguable blogger that he is, he took a photo on this camera phone, which promtly "moblogged" its way to his own blog. Here are the happy bloggers. During that brief encounter, we talked a bit about the broader implications of so-called "consumer surveillance" whereby just about everything is photo-archived, easily accessible by others. From my vantage point, this is going to create huge challenges for brands. In a world where everyone has a camera phone, even the slightest achilles heel can be captured. And digitally archived. And then found via innocent search. Brave new world.
