Happy Birthday Sophia Mary!

Is it possible that one year has passed since our bonus baby entered the world?! It is! At 23 pounds she continues to delight anyone who meets her...always looking for a laugh and joke, who wouldn't want to hang around Sophia Mary?!  My mom, sister, and niece and nephew, Lucia and Calvin, came to town to celebrate the big day! We ate far too many animal cupcakes, jumped and played at the Children's Museum and EnterTRAINment and had a blast watching the kids laugh with each other!

The Brown-Blackshaw gang gathered at my sister's house in Columbia, South Carolina for the 2008 Holiday festivities. We had the luxury of having Pete's sister Anne and family, our cousin Eddy and his family, and wonderful friends from Kenya, come over for delicious food, and of course, create videos for cucina.com. While we had a great time, we dearly missed our NY and California clan!!

Leila & Liam start Pre-School!

Leila and Liam were sad to leave their fantastic teachers in the Penguin room, but as you can see in the picture below (running to class:)), they have transitioned nicely to the Pre-School Koala room!

We love their new teachers: Gina, Sara and Cassi (see below)! They are full of positive energy, stimulate the kids with tooonnsss of activities around the classroom and are warm and loving with all the kiddies! We hit the jackpot again!

 

Of course - we still love the Penguins and will visit often (see Kristy - Penguin lead teacher - holding the twins).

Sophia turns 7th months old!

This is a girl who smiles all day! She is such a charmer! She wakes up smiling, laughs at your jokes (I swear she gets them!) and grabs your face like she is going to give you a good old fashioned Italian kiss!
We just love our little Sophia bug!

Celebrate Father's Day and Support A Cause (6/15/08)

To celebrate Father's Day we attended one of the 7 Days For SIDS events, a brunch sponsored by Cincinnati Children's held at  Cincinnati State's Midwest Culinary Institute.  It was a delicious experience with the majority of Cincinnati's leading restaurants flaunting their unique treats for the dads and families to enjoy.  My favorite was Nectar's Peach Soup. Heaven!! I must have "inhaled" 8 of them under the guise that I was getting them for the entire family:)!  One of the highlights was the baking room for kids - where kids of all ages could create their own cookies with icing, sprinkles, and candies.  Loved this part. My reco for next year - increase the number of events for kids and increase the number of kids that can be accomodated (this year they estimated 50 and had at least 150).
NET - We are there next year!
